After being out for seven against Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 on Friday in Ahmedabad, Virat Kohli’s average Indian Premier League campaign came to an end. Even worse, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a seven-wicket loss and was eliminated from the playoffs for the third time in a row.

In the second over, Kohli was caught behind by Prasidh Krishna. In seven innings, Prasidh had eliminated Kohli three times. In RCB’s final game of the league phase against Gujarat Titans, Kohli recorded his highest IPL score with a 73.
In 16 matches during IPL 2022, Kohli scored 341 runs, averaging 22.73, with a strike rate of 115.98 and two fifty-sevens. His two half-centuries came against the Titans, who made it to the championship game in their first season.

The record for the most runs scored in a single IPL season still belongs to Kohli, who scored 973 runs in IPL 2016 and had four hundreds. In Qualifier 2 on Friday, Jos Buttler equaled Virat Kohli’s mark of four hundreds in one IPL season. The three-figure score, incidentally, was against RCB.

#5 in 2012 was Chris Gayle (733) and #7 in 2013 was Mike Hussey (733)
The Gayle Storm was at its height in 2012, when he was awarded the orange hat for scoring 733 runs in in 15 games. Chris Gayle’s relentless aggression was on display in that edition against other teams, including KXIP, RR, and KKR. In the ranking of the top scorers of the individual season, he comes in at number three behind Virat and Kane. The next year, he defeated the Pune Warriors of India and scored an enormous and historic tonne of 175*(66).
Mike Hussey, known as “Mr. Cricket,” is the first Australian on the list of highest run scorers. Australians typically lead in these records and statistics, but the Indian Premier League’s playing field is different from that of the rest of the world. He participated in 59 games of the IPL, scoring 1977 runs with a great average of over 39. He has consistently provided vital and game-winning hits for Chennai Super Kings throughout his career, thus they were extremely fortunate to have him in the opening position. Hussey was able to match Chris Gayle’s 2013 total of 733 runs in just 17 innings in 2013.
#4 in 2018 is Kane Williamson (735)

He helped his side reach the championships by giving them strong starts in nearly every game he played. A staggering average of 57.53 and strike rate of 149.05. The exceptional year featured 4 centuries and 4 fifties. He is one of the top 5 batsmen with the most sixes in a season with 45 sixes struck in that season.

Virat Kohli cemented his position at no 1 in the list as he hit the highest number of runs in a single season. He smashed a record 973 runs in 16 matches of the IPL 2016 edition. He also scored 4 tons in that season which is also a record; nobody showed such dominance with the bat in IPL before him. He helped RCB reach the final but couldn’t win the trophy as SRH played the spoiler in that game.
