Rohit Sharma played his first ODI for India back in 2007 against Ireland in Belfast, but it wasn’t until 2010 that he scored his first ODI century. Rohit Sharma had just scored a 119-run effort while batting at number four in an international triangular series between India and Zimbabwe at Bulawayo’s Queen Sports Club. Two days later, at the same location, he backed it up with an undefeated 101 versus Sri Lanka.

Rohit Sharma’s distinctive batting style, which the general public has come to refer to as “lazy elegance,” has made him a household name over the years, but it was at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup that he truly blossomed as a batsman. Rohit Sharma, who bats left-handed like Shikhar Dhawan, opened for Team India, scoring five centuries in a single World Cup.

Six of Rohit Sharma’s ODI World Cup hundreds have come in the 2019 World Cup, including five of them. Before India lost to New Zealand in the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup, the Men in Blue won the most of their World Cup matches and easily advanced.

Rohit Sharma’s favourite ODI opponents in cricket have been Sri Lanka and Australia, against whom the batsman has amassed six and eight hundreds, respectively. Rohit Sharma had faced these opposition throughout three of his double century.

Rohit Sharma was making waves with his batting in limited-overs cricket up until 2016, but it was between 2017 and 2019 that Sharma proved he could notch hundreds of runs at will.

Over the course of three years, Rohit Sharma scored an astounding 18 ODI hundreds and totaled 3813 runs. On January 19, 2020, Rohit Sharma scored his final ODI century at Bangalore’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium against Australia.

Ironically, Rohit Sharma initially gained international attention during the Indian cricket team’s 2007 T20 World Cup campaign in South Africa. Rohit Sharma is the ideal limited-overs batter and is perfectly suited for ODI cricket because of his batting finesse. Even though the team featured several match-winning players, including a teenage MS Dhoni, Sharma’s strokeplay had drawn a lot of attention.

He is the batsman with the most tonnes in the shortest format with four. On November 6, 2018, Rohit Sharma scored his final T20I century against West Indies at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Similar to his time in ODIs, Rohit Sharma was able to score his first T20I century in the shortest format. Sharma got his first century in a T20I against South Africa in Dharamsala, eight years after making his T20I debut. Sharma was the second Indian to reach century in all three game types and the first to score two T20I centuries.

The middle-border batting position, however, hindered Sharma from registering another Test century for four years because he wasn’t starting for India in Test cricket.

Sharma finally received his opportunity to bat first in a Test in 2019 against South Africa, and he went on to make cricket history by scoring double hundreds on his opening-position debut. The most recent of Rohit Sharma’s eight Test hundreds occurred on September 2, 2021, at the Oval against England.
