In advance of the holiday season, teams from the district health department began gathering samples from candy stores for testing on Thursday. Officials threatened to take stern action against store owners if any forbidden chemicals were discovered.
Teams lead by Dr. Reena Gogia conducted checks in various Mohali, Kharar, and Derabassi sub-divisions of the district on Thursday. They gathered 10 samples of sweets and three samples to examine if the chemicals used in the sweets complied with Food Safety regulations.
